Global voices, shared vision
Published on 29 July 2025
As I reflect on the energy and significance of our recent International Nursing Research Congress in Seattle, I’m overwhelmed with a deep sense of pride, purpose, and hope for the future of nursing and healthcare. This year’s gathering was far more than a meeting—it was a powerful affirmation of the transformative force of nursing research and a vivid reminder that Sigma stands at the forefront of this global movement.
With 1000 attendees from 46 countries, the congress was a dynamic convergence of cultures, ideas, and aspirations. It was a celebration of science, scholarship, and solidarity. We shared stories, built lifelong connections, and above all, advanced the collective mission of improving healthcare through evidence and innovation. The plenary sessions inspired; the presentations challenged; and the conversations ignited possibilities that will resonate far beyond the walls of our meeting rooms.
One of the most poignant moments came as we honored the 15 inductees into the International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame. These extraordinary scholars embody the very essence of Sigma—visionary, courageous, and unwavering in their pursuit of knowledge that improves lives. Their contributions reaffirm that nursing research is not merely academic—it is a moral imperative, a catalyst for equity, and a pathway to better health outcomes worldwide.
Events like congress are not just milestones—they are manifestations of Sigma’s enduring commitment to lead, inspire, and elevate. In a world facing urgent health challenges—from workforce shortages to systemic inequities—our congress served as a sanctuary for shared purpose and a launchpad for bold action. It is in these moments of unity that our community’s resilience shines brightest.
Every insight exchanged, every connection made, was a thread in a larger, global tapestry of progress—a movement led by nurses who are shaping healthcare and academic systems with compassion, evidence, and a relentless commitment to justice. Your presence and participation are powerful reminders that when nurses lead with science and heart, the world changes.
Let’s harness this momentum. I urge you to stay connected with Sigma’s research community, to mentor rising scholars, and to bring research into practice with conviction. Together, we are not just responding to change—we are defining the future of healthcare.
We look forward to welcoming you to a future Sigma event—where once again, we will gather as a global force for knowledge, impact, and leadership.
With deepest gratitude,
Luke
